Alan Harbitter is the CTO at Nortel Government Solutions. In 1985, he co-founded PEC Solutions, Inc. and grew it to a publicly traded company. In 2005, PEC merged with Nortel Federal to form Nortel Government Solutions. As the CTO, he is the senior technology executive with specialization in information security, networks, and information- sharing. Dr. Harbitter has 30 years of experience in IT analysis and implementation. Recently, he has been active in initiatives to improve information-sharing among state, local, and Federal justice organizations.

Other activities include:

• Distinguished Professor at the GMU School of Information Technology and Engineering
• Co-founder of the Washington Area CTO Roundtable
• Founding chairman of the Board of Visitors for the UMD College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences

Dr. Harbitter received his bachelor's degree (electrical engineering) from Cornell, his master's degree (computer science) from UMD, and his doctorate (computer science) from GMU.
