Ted Schlein is a Managing Partner of the Northern California based venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. At Kleiner Perkins, Ted has focused on investing in early stage technology companies in the enterprise software and infrastructure markets. His specialty is in the area of network and consumer security solutions and he is the founding CEO of one of these companies, Fortify Software. Ted serves on seven other boards as director including ArcSight (ARST), 3VR, 41st Parameter, Venustech (China based), Ketera Technologies, IronPlanet, and Verdiem. Additionally, he oversees the partnership’s investments in LifeLock and Bit 9. Ted also drove the Kleiner Perkins’ investment in Internet Security Systems (ISSX bought by IBM). Prior to joining Kleiner Perkins, Ted was one of the early employees at Symantec Corporation where he helped build the firm into one of the largest global software companies. At Symantec, he designed and marketed the first commercial anti-virus software and was also responsible for leading the company into the utilities market. He was the Vice President, Enterprise Solutions in his final role at the company.
